Selected Learning Experiences
Introduction (5 minutes)
- Review homework: Check OS selection project reports
- Pose the key inquiry question
- Ask: “How many of you have lost a file because you couldn’t remember where you saved it?”
- Brief discussion on file organization challenges
- Explain that OS provides tools for effective file management
- Show examples of organized vs. disorganized file systems
Development Activities (30 minutes)
Activity 1: Installing OS and Application Software in Virtual Environment (8 minutes)
- Install different types of OS and application software in computing devices (virtual environment for safety)
Demonstration (Teacher-led):
- Open virtual machine software (VirtualBox or similar)
- Show pre-installed virtual OS (Linux Ubuntu or similar)
- Demonstrate installation of application software:
- Using software center/package manager (Linux)
- Using installer files (.exe, .deb, .rpm)
- From app stores (if applicable)
