Kamiar, a Kurdish international minority, was born in 1946 in a village near the city of Bijar, Kurdistan, Iran. After graduating from a Teachers Training College at age seventeen, he became the youngest teacher in Iran. Dr. Kamiar received a Ph.D. in geography from Michigan State University. He has published a dozen books and over fifty articles in English and Farsi, neither of which is his mother tongue.
