Creation Account in Genesis 1
The first creation account in Genesis 1 describes the creation of the world in six days by God. Here is an outline of the account:
Day 1:
- God creates light and separates it from darkness. He calls the light “day” and the darkness “night.”
Day 2:
- God creates the sky, separating the waters above from the waters below.
Day 3:
- God gathers the waters below to form seas and allows dry ground to appear. He creates plants and trees on the land.
Day 4:
- God creates the sun, moon, and stars to govern the day and night.
Day 5:
- God creates sea creatures and birds to fill the waters and the sky.
Day 6:
- God creates land animals, including livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals. He also creates humans in His image, male and female, and gives them dominion over the earth.
Day 7:
God sees all He has made and declares it to be perfect. He rests on the seventh day, blessing it and making it holy.
