Describe the commitment of the wall of Jerusalem by Prophet Nehemiah (Nehemiah 12:27-47). (8 marks)
- When the wall was completed, the Jews were overjoyed.
- Nehemiah invited Levites who were the custodians of the Israelites’ religion
- He also invited priests, political leaders, and Israelites.
- Singers were also invited. they came with Cymbals, harps and lyles.
- Priests and Levites purified themselves and the people.
- The gates and the walls were purified.
- Nehemiah brought leaders (princes) of Judah upon the wall. He then appointed two groups – who gave thanks and went into a procession.
- The first group led by Ezra went to the right of the wall.
- The second group converged at the temple.
- The two groups converged at the temple where they sang, sacrificed and rejoiced.
