Give seven vows made by the Israelites during the time of the renewal of the covenant (Nehemiah 10:28-39)
- They were to live according to God’s law/obey all his commandments/requirements
- They would not intermarry with the foreigners living on their land
- They promised not to farm every seventh year/they to cancel all debts
- They would make annual contributions towards temple expenses/ not to neglect the house of God
- They were to provide wood for burnt sacrifices
- They were to offer the first fruits of their harvest/dedicate their firstborn sons/flocks as required by the law
- They would pay their tithes by law
- They will not do any business on Sabbath day
- They would acknowledge god’s role in their prosperity
- They would pay annual temple taxes to ensure that God’s house was not neglected
