Reasons why Kenyans are attracted to the church today
- It gives them a sense of belonging.
Identity is the word. I belong to this church or that church. - To join others in the worship
The church is used as a social gathering area where people of different age groups, classes, interests, and genders meet. - To grow and develop spiritually
Nurturing faith - To seek comfort and consolation
Through repentance, Christians feel comfortable and consoled - To receive physical and spiritual healing.
Gathering in church to hear the word of God interpreted by the preacher. - To seek material help.
Some go to church to seek help such as food, school fees, etc. - To uphold the family tradition
My ‘father’ was in this church, I therefore should be too. - To seek God’s blessings
Believers believe that going to church is to seek God’s blessings - To appreciate the preacher or the choir.
Showing some kind of togetherness with the preacher, choir, and other members - Peer influence
Ooh boy! Why should I not? My best friends go to church on Sundays, and I too, should. - To go and see new fashions
Let’s talk of styles such as dressing styles, hairstyles, walking styles, etc.
