Christian teaching on marriage
State the Christian teaching on marriage. (7 marks)
- Marriage is instituted/ordained by God/sacred
- Christian marriage should be monogamous
- Marriage should be between a man and a woman/not between individuals of the same sex
- Marriage is complete with/without children
- Marriage is for procreation/companionship
- Husband and wife should complement each other
- Marriage should be based on mutual love/respect/faithfulness
- The husband is the head in marriage/wife to submit to the husband
- Marriage unites husband and wife as one flesh
- Marriage is permanent/divorce/separation is not allowed
- Marriage partners should satisfy each others sexual needs/conjugal rights
- It is not a must for one to marry/be celibate
- Re-marriage is allowed after the death of a partner.
