Nathan’s Prophecy About the Messiah
Source: 2 Samuel 7:3-17
- Lineage of David
- The Messiah will come from the lineage of King David.
- Verse: 2 Samuel 7:12-13“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.”
- Everlasting Kingdom
- The kingdom of the Messiah will be everlasting.
- Verse: 2 Samuel 7:16“Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.”
- Son of God
- The Messiah will be regarded as God’s son, and God will be his father.
- Verse: 2 Samuel 7:14“I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.”
- Divine Favor
- The Messiah will rule with the favor of God, who will never abandon him.
- Verse: 2 Samuel 7:15“But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.”
