Describe the teaching of the prophet Amos on Israel’s election. (6 marks)
- God chose Israel and his own to declare His will
- Israel’s election was due to Yahweh for her forefathers
- He gave them the Ten Commandments to guide them
- Israel was to be a holy nation
- It was given responsibility by God to be a light to other nations
- It was to face a more severe punishment, it failed to meet the covenant of Yahweh.
- The people were expected to live like Nazarites
- Israel thought that they were superior to other nations
- God reminds them that they are not superior to other nations as all were equal before God
- God was to reject any nation that failed to keep His covenant way of life.
