Introduction (6 minutes)

• Review homework: Check characteristics charts and calculations
• Pose the key inquiry question
• Demonstrate three scenarios:
  1. Teacher talks, students listen (one-way)
  2. Walkie-talkie conversation (take turns)
  3. Phone conversation (talk simultaneously)
• Ask: “How are these three communication styles different?”
• Introduce data communication modes
